Lisa has been calling for over 20 years and has a wealth of experience and expertise in folk dance and music. We are pleased that she regularly calls with The Bursledon Village Band.
Lisa originally started her barn dance/Ceilidh career as a musician with ‘Rufus Return’, a folk band from the south coast which was started by her husband Andrew. She started calling for the band in 1997.
She was a member of Devil's Jump English clog dance group and Mary Rose and Royal George Street dancers. In 1990 Lisa started Chequered Flag with Simon Harmer.
Lisa is an energetic and enthusiastic caller and can adapt well to the crowd she is working with. She enjoys calling for children as well as adults. The most frequently used comment at the end of an evening that she calls for is “where do you get your energy from, you’ve been great”.
Lisa takes pride in engaging with the audience and empathising with their particular requirements. Most of the dances she calls are from the British Isles plus a few of her own. Expect the unexpected with the odd line dance if required.
